Kidnapped man rescued by Daska police

Abductors torture victim to extract ransom over phone

DASKA:

In an operation, Daska police recovered a kidnapped young man, Rashid, who had been taken hostage for ransom.

The 22-year-old, son of Zulfikar Ali from Rab Nawaz Colony, was kidnapped while on duty at a local pizza shop.

Rashid left for work at 6:00pm but did not arrive at his destination.

Around 10:35pm, Rashid's father received a distressing call from his son's phone.

The kidnappers informed him that Rashid was in their custody and threatened to kill him if their demands were not met.

During the call, the family could hear Rashid being tortured in the background.

Panicked, Rashid's father, accompanied by local dignitaries, rushed to the City Daska Police Station and reported the incident to SHO Imran Sultan, who informed senior officers.

Upon learning of the situation, DPO Rana Umar Farooq directed DSP Daska Abid Rasheed to form a team and lead an operation for Rashid's swift recovery.

A task force, including SHOs Imran Sultan, Adeel Shahbaz, Hafiz Khalid Mehmood and other officers, launched the operation.

With the assistance of the CIA and modern technology, the police began a series of targeted raids, cordoning off potential hideouts.

Despite the kidnappers' attempts to outsmart the police by constantly moving their hostage, the authorities' traced their hideouts.

The kidnappers, realising they could not escape, abandoned Rashid in a field and fled.

Speaking to The Express Tribune DPO Farooq reiterated, "We acted swiftly to file an FIR upon receiving the report. Through coordinated efforts, we secured the release of the kidnapped boy in the early hours of the morning. We are actively working to identify and arrest the culprits soon."

Meanwhile, police also took action in a separate case of domestic violence in Jamke Cheema, within the Motra police station jurisdiction. Upon receiving reports of a woman being assaulted, the police registered a case and arrested the suspect, Nasir.

A police spokesperson emphasised that domestic violence will not be tolerated, and immediate action will always be taken in such cases.
