'No matter how much weight I lost, I always struggled': Alia Bhatt on body-image struggles

Highway star admitted that pregnancy and motherhood changed her perception of her body image

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt says that after stepping into Bollywood, she faced criticism regarding her appearance and weight.

In an interview with an Indian channel, the popular Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt stated that when she started acting, she was overweight and her skin tone and appearance were not those of typical heroines.

Before stepping into Bollywood, she was satisfied with herself, but after starting acting, the situation changed for her.

The actress revealed that in the early stages of her career, she faced criticism and mockery based on her weight and appearance.

She recalls. “I was quite a chubby, healthy kind of kid, very happy with my life at the time. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the way I looked,” she said.

Despite losing weight, she remains cautious about her weight to this day and continues to struggle to keep it under control.

“I have struggled with body-image issues since then. No matter how much weight I lost, I always struggled,” she admitted.

Her friends tell her to stop dieting and enjoy life, but she wants to keep herself according to Bollywood’s demands.

Alia Bhatt has showcased her acting prowess in several hit films including Highway and others, and has received awards for her excellent acting.

Alia will next be seen in Vasan Bala’s Jigra, with Vedang Raina. She is also shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
