Archana Puran Singh, a staple of the popular Indian comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show, revealed that she earns $12,000 per episode for her role in which she simply laughs at the antics of the comedians.
Archana's salary has been the subject of curiosity, and she addressed this in a recent interview where she admitted that her co-stars earn significantly more than she does.
Archana’s revelation came as Indian media shared insights into the cast’s earnings for the first season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, set to stream its second season on Netflix from September 21, 2024.
For Season 1, the show’s host, Kapil Sharma, was paid a whopping $600,000 per episode, while co-stars Sunil Grover and Krishna Abhishek earned $30,000 and $12,000 per episode, respectively. Other notable figures included Keiku Sharda at $8,400 and Rajeev Thakur at $7,200.
During a chat show with her fellow cast members, Archana acknowledged the gap in pay between her and others like Sunil Grover and Krishna Abhishek, but expressed no discontent. "You all get paid double for your hard work, so it’s fair enough," she commented, adding that she is comfortable with her role and the pay she receives.
Archana’s candidness about earning primarily for her laughter on the show has fueled public interest, with fans eager to see what the new season holds as the trailer featuring guests Alia Bhatt and Kartik Aaryan has already generated excitement ahead of its premiere.
The Kapil Sharma Show has become a household name in India and abroad, known for its blend of celebrity interviews, skits, and humor. As the second season gears up for release on Netflix, the spotlight on cast salaries and the show’s enduring popularity remains strong.
