IU commemorated her debut anniversary on September 18th by making a significant donation.

According to EDAM Entertainment, the artist donated 225 million KRW (approximately 170,000 USD) under the name “IUAENA,” a combination of her stage name and her fan club “UAENA.” The donation was distributed to organizations like the Korea Association for Children with Rare Diseases, the “Milk Delivery Asking About the Elderly” initiative, Hansarang Village, and Hansarang Infant Home.

This gesture continues IU’s tradition of giving back to the community each year on her debut anniversary. The contributions will fund various efforts, such as supporting children with rare conditions, providing essential visits and milk to elderly individuals living alone, upgrading facilities for people with severe disabilities, and enhancing conditions at the infant home.

Beyond her debut anniversary, IU is known for her consistent philanthropic efforts, with donations on occasions such as Children’s Day and the year-end holidays. Earlier in 2024, she donated 200 million KRW (about 150,000 USD) to support organizations that aid children with hearing impairments.

In a statement through EDAM Entertainment, IU shared, “Thanks to UAENA, I’ve been able to cultivate a heart full of love and values. I’m happy to carry out meaningful acts in ‘IUAENA’s name every year. I hope this small gesture can be a special gift to those receiving it. Thank you to UAENA for always planting love in my heart. Let’s last a long time together.”

IU is set to headline her ‘2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT ENCORE: THE WINNING’ at Seoul World Cup Stadium on September 21st and 22nd, becoming the first female artist to headline the venue.
