Terrorist 'accidentally' kills their own during CTD encounter in Lahore

The operation near Nankana Sahib resulted in significant recoveries of arms and explosives by authorities.

In a shootout on Tuesday, three terrorists were killed during a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Lahore.The operation, based on intelligence, took place near the Nankana Sahib interchange.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the terrorists opened fire on the CTD team, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Remarkably, the three terrorists were reportedly killed by the gunfire of their own associates, while two others managed to flee the scene.

During the operation, security forces recovered a cache of weapons, including three hand grenades, three detonators, safety fuse wires, two rifles, and other ammunition.

The spokesperson indicated that a search operation is currently underway to apprehend the two escaped terrorists. CTD teams have established roadblocks near the Nankana interchange on the motorway as part of their efforts.

The identification of the deceased terrorists is ongoing, with authorities noting that the group was reportedly planning a major attack in Lahore. The incident highlights the continued security challenges facing the region.

Earlier, the CTD arrested nine terrorists in operations conducted across various cities in Punjab, including Mianwali, Faisalabad, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sahiwal, and Rawalpindi.

In Mianwali, one terrorist was arrested, while another terrorist from the banned organisation Daesh was taken into custody in Faisalabad.

These operations resulted in the recovery of explosive materials, including two hand grenades, 26 detonators, and safety fuse wires, along with arms, ammunition, mobile phones, and cash.
