Lahore police have uncovered startling details in the murder case of Javed Butt, brother-in-law of Teefi Butt, the prime suspect in the Ameer Balaj murder case.
According to DIG Organised Crime, Imran Kishwar, the arrested shooters revealed during interrogation that the killing was carried out at the behest of Ameer Masab, son of Tipu Truckanwala.
The shooters, identified as Azhar and Ilyas, confessed that the murder was a contract killing for which they were promised Rs500,000 and two valuable houses.
The suspects admitted they had been in contact with Ameer Masab before and after the murder. The link was reportedly established through Arif, a former employee of Ameer Masab and a resident of Pattoki, who arranged the shooters' meeting with Masab. Arif, however, remains at large.
Ameer Masab fled the country six days before Javed Butt’s murder, allegedly as part of a premeditated plan. Despite leaving Pakistan, he maintained communication with the shooters throughout the execution of the crime, police sources confirmed.
A web of murders and retaliation
Javed Butt’s murder is believed to be linked to an ongoing feud surrounding the murder of Ameer Balaj, son of Tipu Truckanwala. Ameer Balaj was killed at a wedding in Lahore, allegedly by Muzaffar Hussain, a gunman loyal to Khawaja Tareef, also known as Teefi Butt. The feud dates back 30 years, and Muzaffar Hussain was shot dead immediately after killing Balaj.
The murder of Javed Butt, which occurred near the Muslim Town underpass in Lahore, is suspected to be part of the same vicious cycle of retaliatory killings. Butt was killed on the spot, while his wife sustained injuries in the attack. The couple’s daughter, who was also in the car at the time, escaped unharmed.
Organised crime and widening investigations
The arrest of Azhar and Ilyas is seen as a breakthrough in the case. The Lahore Organised Crime Unit, led by DSP Muhammad Ali Butt and overseen by DIG Imran Kishwar, has intensified its efforts to apprehend all those involved. Investigators are also pursuing red warrants for Teefi Butt and his associate, Khawaja Aqeel (Gogi Butt), both of whom have been declared proclaimed offenders.
Further complicating the case, an audio recording surfaced implicating Ahsan Shah, a close friend of one of the deceased, in plotting to murder a police officer. The recording, made while Ahsan was in jail, detailed his intentions to flee the country after executing the plot.
With multiple suspects and interconnected murders, police are working around the clock to untangle the web of violence that has gripped the case. Authorities remain focused on bringing all perpetrators to justice, with the hope that these revelations will pave the way for further arrests.
