Donald Trump cancels appearance on Hawk Tuah Girl’s podcast? Rumor debunked
An NPR article is going viral, claiming that Donald Trump canceled his appearance on the new podcast ‘Talk Tuah,’ hosted by Haliey Welch, also known as the Hawk Tuah Girl.
The claim spread on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday, September 16, after user @number_pizza111 posted a screenshot of what appeared to be an NPR article.
The post, captioned “NO,” displayed a headline reading, “Trump cancels appearance on ‘Talk Tuah’ podcast due to assassination attempt,” accompanied by images of Welch and Trump. The article was supposedly sourced from the Associated Press.
However, this claim has been debunked. A Google search revealed no evidence of such an NPR article, and no other media outlets have reported the alleged cancellation.
The user behind the post, @number_pizza111, even bragged about the tweet, stating, “This is officially my most viral tweet ever.”
He also hid replies questioning the claim's authenticity, writing, “All blue checkmark replies will be hidden. Pay me $10 if you want to be seen.”
Moreover, the post is believed to be AI-generated, as it features a WNYC mark that does not exist on the official website. NPR has no record of publishing such an article.
Welch announced her podcast on September 3, with the first episode premiering on September 10, featuring comedian Whitney Cummings.
