The Jane's Addiction reunion tour has been canceled after a heated onstage altercation between Dave Navarro and Perry Farrell during their Boston show over the weekend.
The band, touring together for the first time in 14 years, issued a brief statement on social media Monday, announcing the "difficult decision to take some time away as a group."
However, Dave Navarro took to Instagram with a more direct explanation, laying the blame on Farrell's "continuing pattern of behavior" and "mental health difficulties," which, he said, made it impossible to continue.
"Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative," Navarro added. "We hope that he will find the help he needs."
The Boston concert ended abruptly on Friday when Farrell allegedly threw a punch at Navarro mid-show, shocking fans and bandmates. Crew members and bassist Eric Avery had to intervene, restraining Farrell and pulling him away from Navarro.
In their joint statement, Navarro, Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins expressed regret, stating they "could see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow [them] to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis."
Perry's wife, Etty Lau Farrell, hinted at underlying tensions, defending her husband on social media, and explaining he had been suffering from "tinnitus and a sore throat" the day of the incident.
