Man arrested in Japan for calling wife 100 times daily from hidden number

When asked why he harassed his wife with over a month of strange calls, the man replied, 'Because I love my wife.'

A 38-year-old Japanese man was recently arrested for calling his wife 100 times in a single day.

The woman, a resident of Amagasaki, Japan, reported her husband to the police, claiming that he was making over 100 anonymous phone calls to her each day, continuing until she hung up the phone.

Initially, the 31-year-old woman started receiving strange phone calls from what seemed to be an unknown caller. The caller remained silent until she became frustrated and ended the call.

This went on for several weeks. The calls always came from a hidden number, so she couldn't block them. Most days, she received dozens of calls, but sometimes it exceeded 100 calls in a single day.

However, one night while playing video games on her husband's phone, she realized that her phone never rang when she was with him.

Suspicious, she informed the police, who eventually gathered evidence and arrested her husband.

When asked why he had harassed his own wife for over a month with his strange calls, the man simply answered “I love my wife, and made phone calls to her without saying anything,” as if the stalking was proof of his love for her.

It’s not uncommon for married couples in Japan to live separately, especially when one of them has to relocate because of their job, and sometimes one of the spouses gets so jealous that they start stalking the other party.

However, police in Amagasaki have confirmed that this was the first case of phone stalking involving a couple living together.
