Nawaz Sharif likely to visit Maulana Fazlur Rehman with PM Shehbaz to seek support

Proposed amendments include over 20 provisions with key changes affecting Articles 51, 63, 175, and 187

As part of the discussions surrounding the government's proposed constitutional amendments, meetings with Maulana Fazl ur Rehman, head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, are continuing, according to Express News.

Sources stated that former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, along with his brother and current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will also visit Rehman at his residence on Sunday.

During this visit, Nawaz is anticipated to make efforts to persuade Rehman to support the constitutional changes.

Earlier, Nawaz arrived in Islamabad from Lahore to attend a National Assembly session concerning the constitutional amendments. PML-N Vice President Hamza Shehbaz has also reached the federal capital.

The proposed amendments include over 20 provisions, with key changes affecting Articles 51, 63, 175, and 187 of the Constitution. Additionally, there is a proposal to increase the number of seats in the Balochistan Assembly from 65 to 81.
