Weather update: Hot and dry conditions persist across Pakistan with scattered rain in upper regions

Hot and dry weather continues to dominate most parts of Pakistan, with scattered rain and thunderstorms expected in some parts of upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

A shallow westerly wave over northern regions is contributing to isolated rainfall in these areas.

Sunday’s forecast predicts that most of the country will remain hot and dry, though rain and thunderstorms are likely in parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The situation is expected to remain similar on Monday, with Chitral, Dir, and Swat likely to experience isolated showers.

During the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather prevailed, with scattered thunderstorms in south/central Punjab and parts of upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Dera Ghazi Khan recorded the highest rainfall with 16 mm, while Kasur received 4 mm. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral saw 5 mm of rain, with smaller amounts recorded in Peshawar and Kalam. Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 1 mm of rain.

Temperatures continue to soar, with Sibbi reaching 40°C, and other cities like Shaheed Benazirabad, Padidan, and Turbat recording 39°C.

The forecast for the coming days remains consistent, with hot, dry weather expected in most regions, though isolated rain and thunderstorms are likely in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, north Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan through the weekend.

Partly cloudy conditions are predicted for northern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
