MUZAFFARGARH:

A local court in Muzaffargarh has acquitted man accused of murdering his three young sisters by slitting their throats.

According to the police, the parents facilitated the acquittal by reaching a settlement with the accused.

The accused had confessed to killing his sisters after his arrest. The three victims had gone missing on July 17 last year in the Thermal Colony in Muzaffargarh. The next day, the bodies of seven-year-old Abiya Fatima, eight-year-old Zahra and 11-year-old Areesha had been found with their throats slit in a residential quarter adjacent to their home.

After the incident, the police had arrested the brother of the murdered girls, Basit, who had confessed to killing them after his arrest.

The case had been registered at the Muzaffargarh city police station.

Additional Sessions Judge Chaudhry Muhammad Asif ordered the acquittal of Basit.

According to police sources, the court issued the acquittal order due to a settlement made by the parents with their accused of the murders.

Muzaffargarh District Police Officer Syed Hasnain Haider said a decision to file an appeal against the court order would be taken after perusing the written verdict.

Meanwhile in Lahore, the brothers brutally assaulted their sisters over a demand for their share of the property in the Nawab Town area.

According to details, the brothers assaulted the sisters after they requested their share of the property. The victims were dragged out of the street by their hair, and one woman lost consciousness due to the violence.

Initial reports indicate that two sisters had asked their brothers for their share in the property. Enraged, the brothers and their wives began violently attacking the sisters with slaps and bricks.
