LAHORE:

In response to the Anti-Terrorism Court's (ATC) concerns over delays, members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) have assured the court that investigations into several cases related to the May 9 riots will be completed by October 28.

The riots erupted following the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan.

The court summoned the JIT officials after expressing dissatisfaction with the progress made by investigating officers (IOs) on these cases.

JIT conveners appeared before the ATC, where the judge questioned the prolonged delays in finalising the investigations.

The cases under investigation involve incidents of setting containers ablaze, attacks on PML-N offices and police vehicles and creating public disorder.

Due to the incomplete investigations, decisions on the pre-arrest bail applications of the accused have been pending for over a year.
