Two cops martyred in IED blast
Two cops were martyred and two others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeting a police vehicle near Kuchlak Police Station, some 20 kilometres from Quetta, on Saturday.
The blast occurred at a location where the police vehicle had been routinely deployed to prevent diesel and petrol smuggling activities in the area.
The martyred officers were identified as ASI Zainud Din and Constable Muhammad Tahir. Two other injured officers and were shifted to Civil Hospital, Quetta for medical treatment.
Law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the incident. Initial reports suggested that the attack may have been a response to intensified enforcement against diesel smuggling in the area.
