Miss Switzerland finalist had 'perfect family' before husband murdered and 'pureed' her in blender
The former Miss Switzerland finalist, who was allegedly strangled, dismembered, and "pureed" by her husband, was described by friends as having had the "perfect family" with their two daughters.
The body of 38-year-old model Kristina Joksimovic was found in February at their upscale home in Binningen, near Basel, a day after she had been killed.
Her husband later confessed to the crime, claiming it was in "self-defense" and stating that he dismembered her body in a panic in their laundry room.
"To me, they seemed like the perfect family," a friend of Kristina told local outlet Blick, adding that the last time he had seen her was three months earlier, in December. "I am very sad."
Kristina's husband, Thomas, had his request for release from custody denied by the Federal Court in Lausanne on Wednesday after his confession, with the investigation finding "concrete indications of mental illness."
Kristina's body was discovered on February 13, and investigators determined she had been strangled.
The suspect admitted to strangling his wife.
An autopsy revealed that the body was dismembered using a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears in the laundry room.
The remains were then blended with a hand blender, "pureed," and dissolved in a chemical solution, as reported by Blick.
Friends expressed their shock and sadness on social media, with many leaving heartfelt comments on her Instagram posts.
Miss Switzerland 2006 winner Christa Rigozzi wrote online, "No words, still sad. Rest in peace, my love."
"Speechless. Rest in God's peace," added Jastina Doreen Riederer, the 2018 winner.
Kristina had shared photos online of the couple celebrating their first anniversary in 2018, a year after their 2017 wedding.
She had called her husband "my rock" in earlier posts and proudly announced her second pregnancy.
Nadine Vinzens, Miss Switzerland 2002, who was friends with Kristina, told Nau.ch, "I knew her well and met him briefly. I am totally shocked and heartbroken."
