Patrick Mahomes has made it clear that he will not be publicly sharing his political beliefs, in contrast to his friend Taylor Swift.

During a press conference, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was asked about endorsing a presidential candidate after Republican nominee Donald Trump praised Patrick’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, for her reported support in the upcoming election.

“I’ve always said, I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way,” Patrick, 28, told reporters on Wednesday.

He added that his role is to encourage people to register to vote and to conduct their own research before making the best decision for themselves and their families.

When asked about Trump’s mention of Brittany, Patrick emphasized that what matters most is “me and my family and how we treat other people.”

The quarterback also said he doesn’t consider politics when spending time with friends, noting that he focuses on “how they treat other people.”

“I’m thinking about the people and how they treat other people,” he explained, mentioning that he had spent time with “a lot of great people this week,” just days after attending the US Open with his wife, Swift, and Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce.

Patrick's comments came less than 24 hours after Swift publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris following Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Trump praised Brittany Mahomes during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth,” Trump said, adding that she’s a “big Trump fan.”

Brittany had previously made headlines in August after she appeared to clap back at critics following her alleged “like” of a pro-Trump post on Instagram.
