Video surfaces of Georgia school shooter Colt Gray being questioned by police in 2023 over threats

Police have released footage from last year showing Colt Gray and his father being questioned about online threats.

Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray, now 14, was questioned by police over a year ago about online threats indicating a potential school shooting.

Newly released footage from May 2023 shows Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies interviewing Colt Gray and his father, Colin Gray, after receiving a tip from the FBI.

In the video, Colin Gray, initially seen answering the door in casual attire, is informed by deputies that someone using his former address was making violent threats on Discord. The officers expressed concern due to the connection with his address, prompting Colin to mention his son, Colt.

When asked if Colt is an avid video gamer, Colin confirms that he plays frequently. Deputies then inquire about the presence of accessible weapons in the home. Colin acknowledges that firearms are present, though he notes they are not loaded, and explains that the family participates in shooting and hunting activities. “They are, I mean, there’s nothing loaded, but they are,” Colin says. He also reveals that Colt had recently hunted and shot his first deer.

Colt Gray, now facing four counts of murder, will be tried as an adult for the deadly rampage at Apalachee High School and could face life in prison if convicted. His father, Colin Gray, 54, is charged with four counts of manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children.

Colin is accused of being an accessory to the shooting, having allegedly given Colt an AR-15-style rifle for Christmas—the weapon used in the attack. He faces significant prison time, with potential sentences of up to 30 years for each murder count and 10 years for each charge of involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children.
