SNL adds three new cast members for Season 50 as Chloe Troast departs
Saturday Night Live (SNL) is set to introduce three new featured players—Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline—who will join the iconic NBC late-night show for its 50th season. This landmark season, which will include celebrations, reunions, and high-profile guest appearances, promises to be a significant event in the show's history. However, the addition of new cast members comes with the departure of Chloe Troast, a featured player from last season. Troast expressed her sadness about leaving the show, sharing on Instagram, "Unfortunately I was not asked back to SNL this season," and reminisced about how much she enjoyed being part of the SNL family.
Alongside the new cast members, Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker, who have spent two years as featured players, have been promoted to the main cast. The majority of the show's veteran performers, including Maya Rudolph, will return for Season 50. Rudolph is set to reprise her popular Kamala Harris impersonation as the 2024 presidential election approaches.
Created and executive produced by Lorne Michaels, SNL continues to dominate as the top-rated entertainment series in the 18-49 demographic across both broadcast and cable for the 2023-24 season. The upcoming season will debut on September 28, with celebrations culminating in a live primetime special set for February 16, 2025.
