NBA YoungBoy sentenced to 27 months in federal gun case after plea deal

NBA YoungBoy has received his sentence after agreeing to a plea deal in his federal gun case, which was transferred from Louisiana to Utah.

Reports indicate that NBA YoungBoy has been sentenced following his plea deal in the federal gun case that was moved from Louisiana to Utah.

After months of detention since his April arrest, the rapper has finally learned his sentence. According to celebrity attorney Bradford Cohen, NBA YoungBoy was sentenced to 27 months in prison. However, with time already served, Cohen expects he’ll be released much sooner.

“Being right is a bad habit of mine,” Cohen shared on Instagram. “Global plea 27 months…will be out with credit time served in prob 12 months…lawyer did a nice job with resolving the matter successfully.”

The attorney also noted that YoungBoy was given five years of probation. Cohen, who also represents Kodak Black, predicted the outcome weeks prior, stating that “the case in Utah is weak and the Federal case had all kinds of trouble.”

NBA YoungBoy pleaded guilty on August 14 to illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. He was one of 16 people arrested during a music video shoot in Louisiana in 2020. In 2021, he was indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm and for possessing a firearm not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

Although the gun registration charge was dropped in March, Utah authorities charged him with prescription drug fraud in April. Officials in Cache County alleged that the rapper illegally obtained promethazine with codeine from pharmacies in Utah.

In May, Weber County authorities added more charges, including possession of a firearm by a restricted person and two counts of fraudulently obtaining a prescription.

Furthermore, federal authorities hit NBA YoungBoy with an additional gun charge in August.
