Grammy-award-winning artist The Weeknd has taken music video production to new heights, using the latest iPhone 16 Pro to film his latest release, Dancing In The Flames.

Apple made the announcement during their live event on Monday, showcasing the smartphone’s slo-mo 4K resolution setting. The video, shot at 120 frames per second, takes full advantage of the phone’s advanced technology.

"Shooting (in 4K resolution at 120 frames per second), really helped us to slow down reality," shared Eric Hendrickson, the cinematographer for the project, in a behind-the-scenes video presented at the Apple event.

"(It helped) slow down the elements, slow down The Weeknd's movement. You didn't have to think like, 'oh, it's just an iPhone.' We just pushed it as far as we normally do, really creating epic shots."

The Weeknd premiered Dancing In The Flames in a livestreamed concert from São Paulo, Brazil on September 7. The performance, which was broadcast globally, was well-received, with Billboard noting that the track "has the hallmarks of a hit from first listen," adding that The Weeknd's voice "soars over an indelible synth line, singing of an odyssey where 'We're dancing in the flames/ It's indescribable.'"

The Weeknd’s collaboration with Apple is not new; the musician's upcoming immersive performance was previously announced as a feature for the Apple Vision Pro headset. The iPhone 16 Pro is available for preorder starting September 13, with in-store availability from September 20.
