Tech YouTuber MKBHD wins Frisbee World Championship
Marques Brownlee, better known to many as MKBHD, the face of one of the largest tech channels on YouTube, has added another major accolade to his already impressive portfolio.
While most fans recognize him for his cutting-edge reviews of smartphones, gadgets, and other tech gear, Brownlee's athletic talents shone on the world stage this September.
As part of Team USA's mixed Ultimate Frisbee team, Brownlee helped secure a gold medal at the 2024 World Ultimate Championships in Australia, even scoring the final, game-winning goal.
Though Brownlee’s love for tech is widely known, his passion for Ultimate Frisbee runs deep as well.
He has regularly collaborated with fellow YouTubers, often discussing his love for the sport. However, it’s not just a casual hobby for him—he’s been competing professionally in the sport for years.
His latest performance on Team USA highlighted his exceptional skills and solidified his place among the top Ultimate players in the world.
The 2024 World Ultimate Championships, held in Australia, brought together the best teams from around the globe. Brownlee played for Team USA’s mixed division, which features teams composed of both male and female players.
The grand finals of the tournament took place on September 7, where Team USA faced off against their northern rivals, Team Canada. The two teams had already met earlier in the tournament, with the U.S. claiming a decisive 15-6 victory in that round.
In their rematch during the finals, Team USA dominated once again, this time winning 15-8.
Brownlee played a pivotal role in the match, assisting on the fifth goal of the game during the first half, and then scoring the final goal that clinched the victory.
The match ended just shy of the 83-minute mark, with Brownlee securing the final point as Team USA crossed the 15-goal threshold needed for victory.
“World Champs, hasn’t hit me yet,” Brownlee tweeted of his victory, alongside a clip of the moment he scored the final goal.
