Actor and singer Tyrese Gibson was arrested on September 9, 2024, during a court appearance over unpaid child support in his ongoing legal battle with ex-wife Samantha Lee. The Fast and Furious star, 45, had been ordered by Judge Kevin Farmer in April 2023 to pay $10,000 per month in child support for their five-year-old daughter, Soraya. However, Tyrese allegedly failed to meet the required payments, instead paying $2,200 per month.

During the court hearing, Judge Farmer ordered Gibson to be taken into custody for refusing to comply with the court’s mandate. According to reports from TMZ, Tyrese will need to pay $73,000 to be released from custody. He is reportedly making arrangements to pay the amount.

Prior to the court appearance, Tyrese voiced his frustrations on Instagram, accusing his ex-wife and her legal team of exploiting his financial success. He said, "They’ve been looking at all my movies, concerts, and shows... rubbing their hands," expressing his discontent with the ongoing legal proceedings.

Tyrese and Samantha, who divorced in December 2020, continue to struggle with their co-parenting and custody arrangement for Soraya. In a recent interview, Tyrese stated that he does not believe they will ever be on good terms again, citing deep personal hurt from the relationship.

Samantha has also reflected on the divorce, telling Essence that she would have approached it differently, emphasizing the importance of seeking wise counsel during such a difficult decision.
