Seven-day anti-polio drive kicks off in Pindi

RAWALPINDI:

A seven-day anti-polio campaign has been launched in Rawalpindi district, under which, 11.5 million children will be administered polio vaccines.

This is the seventh anti-polio campaign of the year in Rawalpindi district. It was inaugurated by the Rawalpindi Commissioner, Amir Khattak. He launched the campaign by administering protective polio drops to children. Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, the Director of Health, the WHO Coordinator, and other relevant officials were also present. Following the inauguration, a detailed review of the arrangements for the campaign was conducted.

The campaign is being held across 15 districts, including Rawalpindi. The target for Rawalpindi district is to vaccinate 786,000 children under the age of five. As per the details shared, 245 UC MOs and 870 area in-charges have been appointed for the campaign, and 3,675 mobile teams have been formed. Additionally, there will be 330 fixed points and 163 transit points.

The target for the first day in Rawalpindi District was to administer polio drops to 160,000 children. Commissioner Amir Khattak stated that the aim was to enhance immunity in young children through these protective drops.
