Adult film star dies in Lincoln shooting while protecting cousin

Saiveon Hopkins, a 24-year-old adult film actor known as Jay Hefner, has tragically passed away after being shot while attempting to protect his cousin from violence. 

The incident occurred in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Sunday, where Hopkins was visiting for a family birthday celebration. He was set to return to his home in California following the weekend.

According to a GoFundMe page created by a family friend, Hopkins was a devoted father to his 10-month-old daughter and cared for his terminally ill mother and siblings. The fundraiser aims to help the family cover unexpected funeral expenses and alleviate financial burdens during this difficult time.

Police responded to reports of a fight around 1:30 a.m., discovering two men with gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Hopkins passed away from his injuries at 5:37 a.m. The second victim, a man in his forties, is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Lincoln Police Department is seeking more information regarding the incident. Other shootings were reported in Lincoln on Saturday, but no additional fatalities occurred. Hopkins leaves behind his daughter, girlfriend Madeline, siblings, and his mother, whom he helped care for. His death has shocked the community, as loved ones mourn the senseless violence.
