PML-N’s Talal Chaudhry threatens legal action against K-P CM Gandapur over PTI rally

PML-N Senator Talal Chaudhry announced on Monday that he would pursue legal action against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, accusing him of leading an attack on Islamabad police during a rally.

Chaudhry claimed Gandapur and his supporters were responsible for pelting stones at law enforcement officers, turning the outskirts of the capital into a battleground.

The incident took place on Sunday night near Chungi No. 26, where police clashed with PTI supporters after they refused to adhere to designated routes for the public gathering in Sangjani.

Tensions escalated when PTI supporters, defying traffic instructions, attempted to use a route intended for the general public.

The situation worsened when protesters began throwing stones at the police, leading to a violent confrontation.

In response, police resorted to baton charges and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Several protesters were arrested and transported to different police stations.

In a televised address, Chaudhry condemned the violence, stating: “Islamabad police was deliberately attacked by people led by the KP chief minister".

"Those responsible for this chaos, including the mastermind, will be arrested and jailed.”

Chaudhry emphasized that PTI supporters faced no obstruction from the police but attacked deliberately to mask their rally's failure.

He further vowed that legal consequences would follow, suggesting Gandapur's political future could see him imprisoned.

Ahead of the rally, the Islamabad administration had implemented strict security measures, blocking entry points with containers.

Addressing Gandapur directly, Chaudhry said, “It is unacceptable to threaten institutions and parliament. We will take strong action to prevent political incitement, through legislation if necessary.”

K-P CM Ali Amin Gandapur yesterday vowed that PTI will proceed with a public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, regardless of whether the Punjab government issues a No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

In a defiant statement, Gandapur warned that if Imran Khan is not released within the next two weeks, PTI would take matters into their own hands.

“If Imran Khan is not freed legally within one to two weeks, we will secure his release ourselves,” Gandapur asserted.

Gandapur also directed a challenge at Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, announcing plans to mobilise PTI supporters for a rally scheduled for September 22 in Lahore.

He criticised the government's approach towards PTI, accusing them of imposing various obstacles and violating the constitution.

In his address, Gandapur made indirect references to the establishment, questioning the effectiveness of previous National Reconciliation Orders (NROs) and suggesting that those responsible for granting them would be held accountable.

Regarding former spy chief Faiz Hameed’s arrest, Gandapur blamed the powers that be for failing to reform institutions, alleging that the PTI is unfairly associated with negative elements while the establishment takes credit for positive developments.

“True freedom is in the hands of the people, who are the ultimate stakeholders in Pakistan,” Gandapur concluded.
