KARACHI:

Divisional Commissioner Sukkur Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi confirmed the presence of polio virus in Sukkur's environmental sample and a case in Shikarpur.

He emphasised the importance of vaccinating children with two drops to prevent the virus. Abbasi stated that Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only countries with polio virus, and Sukkur is at risk due to its central location.

This year, over 12 polio cases have been reported in Balochistan, with many people travelling to Sukkur. In Sindh, three cases have been reported, with two from Karachi and one from Shikarpur.

Abbasi urged parents to vaccinate their children during the upcoming polio campaign from September 9 to 15.
