Son of tribal elder killed in Waziristan attack

The son of a tribal elder was killed in a remote controlled IED attack on his car in Lower South Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Police told The Express Tribune that in the Wana tehsil of South Waziristan an IED targeted the vehicle of prominent tribal elder Malik Jamil Toji Khel, resulting in the death of his young son.

According to police, Malik Jamil's vehicle was targeted with a remote-controlled IED in the Kari Kot area. As a result of the explosion, Malik Jamil Toji Khel, Malik Abdul Rasheed, Gulzada, and Muhammad Ullah were injured and transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

The body of the young Shamsuddin, who was killed in the attack, was handed over to his family after necessary procedures.

His funeral prayer will be held today at 5 PM in the local graveyard. This is the third remote-controlled bomb attack on prominent political figures in South Waziristan Lower this year.

On June 7, a remote-controlled explosive device targeted the vehicle of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam's district chief, Maulana Meraz Jan, near Wana Bazaar, severely injuring him. He succumbed to his injuries on June 19 while undergoing treatment.
