The Clemson Tigers community is mourning the loss of former wide receiver Diondre Overton, who passed away on Friday at the age of 26. Overton, a highly-touted recruit from Page High School in Greensboro, N.C., played a significant role in Clemson's national championship victories in 2016 and 2018.
Overton's impressive collegiate career included 52 receptions for 777 yards and seven touchdowns over 51 games. His leadership and academic achievements were recognized with honors such as permanent team captain, Academic All-ACC, and NFF Hampshire Honor Society member.
Following his time at Clemson, Overton's football journey continued in the CFL, UFL, European Football League, and USFL. He was recently drafted by the Memphis Showboats in the USFL Dispersal Draft.
The Clemson family and the wider football community are deeply saddened by this sudden loss. Overton's impact on and off the field will be remembered, and his memory will continue to inspire future generations of Clemson Tigers.
