The federal capital has become the centre of political activity following Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s recent meeting with Pervez Elahi.

The head of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) has engaged in a series of key meetings with political leaders, parliamentarians, senior journalists, and government figures.

According to Express News, Chaudhry Shujaat is actively working to ease the rising political tension in the country.

His discussions have included notable figures such as former President Wasim Sajjad, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, and politician Muhammad Ali Durrani.

This comes after Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervez Elahi reunited in Lahore after a long period of estrangement.

During their meeting, both leaders expressed personal grievances but agreed to resolve family and personal matters through dialogue.

Chaudhry Shujaat has also offered condolences to senior journalist Aamir Ilyas Rana on the death of his mother and to Mohsin Baig on the passing of his brother.

Former federal ministers Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, federal minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and party spokesperson Mustafa Malik were also present during these meetings. The discussions focused on the current political situation in the country.

Shujaat emphasised the need for politicians to prioritise national interests over personal and biased agendas.

He urged national leaders to come forward for political and economic stability, adding that parliamentarians are responsible for creating a national agenda to resolve the country's issues.

Long-standing tensions between Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi have eased following a meeting between the two leaders, facilitated by Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain.

According to sources, Wajahat convinced Pervez Elahi to visit his elder cousin, Chaudhry Shujaat. During the meeting, the two exchanged grievances but agreed to resolve personal and family matters through dialogue.

The meeting focused solely on improving family relations, with both sides avoiding any political discussions, sources confirmed.

Cracks in the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) ranks first appeared in March 2022 around the time of a no-confidence motion against former premier Imran Khan after Elahi threw weight behind the PTI camp, while Shujaat Hussain joined the then-opposition led by PDM parties.

The discord – triggered by Elahi’s decision to throw weight behind PTI against the PDM government – had split the PML-Q into two camps.
