Linkin Park selects Emily Armstrong as new vocalist, announces tour and album 'From Zero'

Linkin Park has officially announced Emily Armstrong, lead singer of the band Dead Sara, as their new co-vocalist. The news was revealed during a live performance event on Thursday, where the band also introduced Colin Brittain, known for his work with G Flip and One OK Rock, as their new drummer. The announcement was accompanied by the release of the band’s first single in seven years, titled "The Emptiness Machine." This song is the lead track from their upcoming album From Zero, which will be released on Nov. 15 through Warner Records.

The new album marks the band’s first full-length release since 2017's One More Light, which was released just two months before the tragic death of former lead vocalist Chester Bennington. Mike Shinoda, reflecting on the band's journey, stated, “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future."

Armstrong and Brittain join long-standing members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn. The group will kick off their “From Zero” world tour on September 11, 2024, in Los Angeles, with stops in major cities such as New York, London, and Seoul.

Shinoda expressed excitement about the new lineup, saying, “We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together.” Pre-sale tickets for the tour will be available for fan club members starting Sept. 6, with general sales beginning on Sept. 7.

This announcement comes after the release of the Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023) earlier this year, which compiled some of the band's greatest hits, including "In the End" and "Numb/Encore."
