Queen’s Brian May reveals he suffered 'minor stroke' but can still play guitar

“I didn’t have any control over this arm,” May shared, but assures fans he's recovering and able to play guitar again

Brian May, the iconic lead guitarist of Queen, revealed on Wednesday that he suffered a "minor stroke" last week, which temporarily caused him to lose control of his arm. 

The 77-year-old rock legend shared the news in a video posted on his website, explaining that while the experience was "a little scary," he is doing "OK" and is now on the mend.

May, known for his remarkable guitar skills, reassured fans that he can still play despite the health setback. 

"I can play guitar after the events of the last few days," May said, though he admitted it was initially uncertain due to his loss of control over his arm.

He also praised the "fantastic care" he received at a local hospital in Surrey, adding that he has been advised to avoid any activities that raise his heart rate too high, including driving and flying. 

"I really don’t want sympathy," he added, asking fans to refrain from flooding his inbox with messages of concern.

May has been a prominent figure in Queen's ongoing performances, continuing to perform alongside drummer Roger Taylor after the death of the band’s legendary frontman, Freddie Mercury, in 1991.
