The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected as fake a notification circulating on social media that declares September 6 as a public holiday in connection with Pakistan’s Defence Day.

According to the Ministry’s Fact Checker, disseminating fake news is not only unethical and illegal, but also a disservice to the nation.

The fact checking report further said that it is the responsibility of everyone to reject such irresponsible behavior.

September 6 stands as a significant event in Pakistan's history, highlighting the nation's strength through unity in diversity. On this day, Pakistanis commemorate the bravery of the armed forces while also recognising the power of national unity.

Defence Day honours the resilience of a country that comes together to safeguard its sovereignty, integrity, and the well-being of its citizens.

The Federal Cabinet Division's announcement of the nation's yearly holidays states that September 6 will not be observed as a public holiday in 2024.

The federal government however can still declare a national holiday, similar to how it did for Youm-e-Takbeer on May 28 (day commemoprating Pakistan's nuclear tests).
