In a refreshingly candid interview with The Lallantop, rapper-singer Yo Yo Honey Singh didn't hold back when reflecting on his past hits. Known for delivering party anthems that once dominated the airwaves, Singh confessed that not all of his songs make him proud today. Among his least favourite? The chart-topping track Sunny Sunny from the movie Yaariyan.

"The most stupid song I have ever written in my life is Blue Hai Paani Paani," Singh declared. "Is that even a song? Today, the water is blue, and the day is sunny—what kind of song is that? It's nonsense. Honestly, if you look at all those songs, do they make any sense? Do they have any head or tail? Now, Brown Rang I can understand; it's written properly. Blue Eyes is about praising beauty."

The rapper went on to criticise some of his other popular tracks, including Lungi Dance and Party All Night, calling them equally absurd. "I don't know what I was doing, and people were putting me on a pedestal," Singh added, reflecting on the period when these songs topped charts despite their lyrical simplicity.

Honey Singh's introspection comes at an interesting time, as the rapper recently dropped his latest album, Glory, on August 26. The album marks his return to the music scene after a tumultuous period of personal struggles and a break from the limelight. But that's not all—Singh is also set to star in an upcoming Netflix documentary titled Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous, which will delve into his meteoric rise, his battles with mental health, and his path to redemption.

While Honey Singh's brutally honest remarks about his past work may surprise his fans, they also showcase his growth as an artist. It seems the rapper is now more focused on creating music with substance, rather than simply chasing the next hit. As he gears up for his documentary release, fans will be keen to see more of the man behind the music, warts and all.
