Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for A Minecraft Movie, slated for an April 4, 2025 release. The film stars Jack Black as Steve and Jason Momoa, alongside a cast that includes Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and Jennifer Coolidge. Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), the movie is based on the popular video game franchise Minecraft, which boasts over 140 million monthly users globally.

In the trailer, Black’s Steve introduces himself with, “I... am Steve,” humorously frustrating the rest of the cast as they navigate a blocky, ever-changing world filled with iconic Minecraft characters like Piglins and Creepers. The movie aims to adapt the game’s creative and adventurous spirit, allowing players to "dream and build" within its universe.

Danielle Brooks, one of the cast members, teased the action-packed elements, stating, “I’ve been harnessed a few times... But it’s really Jack Black, he’s the one doing the heavy lifting,” referring to the stunts and special effects in the film.

Minecraft, originally developed by Mojang Studios and later acquired by Microsoft in 2014, continues to expand its influence across media, having previously inspired spinoffs like Minecraft: Story Mode and Minecraft Dungeons. With this adaptation, Warner Bros. hopes to capture the game’s broad appeal and immersive world.
