Victims were lured to their deaths by woman's family

CHICHAWATNI:

A horrifying double murder has taken place in Chichawatni, five years after a couple defied societal norms to marry for love.

The tragic incident occurred in Chak 118-7DR, where a man named Munir Ahmed and a woman named Fakhrat Kausar Baloch, who had a long-standing illicit relationship, decided to marry after numerous secret meetings.

Fakhrat Kausar, who was already married, left her first husband to marry Munir Ahmed, an act that deeply angered her family.

Despite their disapproval, the family kept their rage hidden for five years, waiting for the right moment to exact their revenge.

The opportunity came last night when Munir Ahmed and Fakhrat Kausar were lured to a relative's home under the pretense of an invitation.

As the couple, traveling by motorcycle, approached the home, Fakhrat's brother, Saeed Ahmed Baloch, saw his chance.

Along with his nephews Aqib, Saqib, Saifullah, and an unidentified accomplice, Saeed Ahmed opened fire on the couple, killing them on the spot.

This was not the first time the family had invited the couple under the guise of a meal, but they had not shown up previously

Upon receiving news of the attack, ASP Maazur Rehman and SHO Chaudhry Amjad Arain of Kasowal Police Station arrived at the crime scene.

The bodies were taken into custody and sent to the THQ Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police sources have confirmed the arrest of two suspects,

and teams have been formed

to apprehend the remaining three at large.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the deadly consequences of defying traditional values in the region.

Earlier in June this year in Khanewal, a 17-year-old youth opened fire and killed his mother and three sisters in the name of honour before fleeing the scene.

The police arrested him two hours later from Melsi, a tehsil of Vehari.

Police said 17-year-old Abbas, a resident of Basti Loharan Wali, a suburb of Khanewal, killed his mother, Hasina Mai, and his sisters, Samina, Amina and Aleema by firing at them with a 12-bore repeater rifle in the fields during early hours of the day.

The suspect confessed that there were frequent visits from suspicious individuals to his house, leading to constant arguments with his family.

According to Abbas, a group of individuals had been sitting with his deceased sister for a considerable time the day before the incident.

The suspect disclosed to the police that the 12-bore shotgun used in the crime belonged to his employer, a landlord residing in Multan, and that he had borrowed it from him a few days prior.
