KARACHI:

Two motorcyclists lost their lives while 13 others were injured after a passenger bus lost control due to brake failure near Bawany Chali on Monday.

After being informed about the incident, rescue workers and police arrived at the scene and shifted the deceased and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via ambulance.

According to a rescue worker, one of the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Talib Abdul Qudus; the other deceased has not yet been identified.

The police reported that the driver of the bus managed to flee the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. They noted that the bus owner will be contacted to provide the driver's documents.

Furthermore, eyewitnesses of the incident told the police that the accident occurred due to the bus driver's overspeeding. They added that the road was damaged from recent rains, causing the motorcyclists to travel slowly when the speeding bus collided with their bikes.

Citizens have called on higher authorities to repair the deteriorated roads promptly to prevent such incidents in the future.
