Travis Scott’s 'Days Before Rodeo' rerelease set to break 2024 hip-hop records

With projected sales nearing 300,000 units, Travis Scott’s Days Before Rodeo could top 2024’s hip-hop charts.

Travis Scott's rerelease of his iconic mixtape, 'Days Before Rodeo,' is exceeding expectations and is on track to potentially become the most successful hip-hop album debut on the Billboard 200 in 2024. 

According to early projections from HipHopAllDay, the deluxe version of the mixtape is expected to sell close to 300,000 units in its first week, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the original 2014 release. 

The re release features guest appearances from hip-hop heavyweights such as Young Thug, Quavo, Playboi Carti, and Mike Dean. 

If sales land as predicted, 'Days Before Rodeo' could surpass the previous record-holder, Eminem's 'The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),' which debuted with 281,000 units earlier this year.

The news has stirred up mixed reactions among fans. 

While some praise Scott's continued success despite setbacks, others have criticized the album's sales strategy, pointing to merchandise bundles as a significant factor. 

"He’d be bigger than Drake if that Astro world tragedy didn’t happen," one fan commented, while another added, "Anyone with a brain knows this is bc his clothes are hot right now lol... Album did 20k from streaming numbers."

Meanwhile, pop star Sabrina Carpenter, who is also vying for the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 with her album 'Short n’ Sweet,' tweeted, "this one’s for nicki," a nod to Scott's previous chart rivalry with Nicki Minaj in 2018.
