Disney/Pixar's 'Inside Out 2' has officially surpassed the 2019 remake of 'The Lion King' in global box office earnings, making it the ninth largest movie of all time, as reported by Nancy Tartaglione of Deadline. Since its release, 'Inside Out 2' has amassed a total of $1.666 billion worldwide. This achievement underscores a strong summer for Disney, with both 'Inside Out 2' and Marvel's 'Deadpool & Wolverine' emerging as the year's top earners, each surpassing the billion-dollar mark.

In addition to 'Inside Out 2's' success, 'Despicable Me 4' by Illumination/Universal has also performed exceptionally well, crossing the $900 million mark globally. 'Alien: Romulus' and 'It Ends with Us' are also making significant strides, each nearing the $300 million milestone worldwide.

'Alien: Romulus', a continuation of the 20th Century franchise directed by Fede Alvarez, garnered $22.6 million overseas in its third weekend, bringing its total to $283.5 million. The film has been particularly successful in China, where it has earned $92.7 million to date.

Similarly, 'It Ends with Us', a film adaptation starring Blake Lively and produced by Columbia Pictures and Wayfarer Studios, is approaching $300 million globally, with an overseas contribution of $150 million. The film has held strong in 58 markets and is set to release in additional countries, including Denmark, Singapore, Korea, and Japan, in the coming months.

Meanwhile, 'Despicable Me 4' continues to draw audiences, especially in China, where it remains the most successful Hollywood animated feature since the onset of the pandemic.

This season's box office results not only highlight the enduring appeal of established franchises but also reflect the global audience's appetite for diverse cinematic experiences across a range of genres.
