An infant girl was tragically killed by an accidental gunshot fired by her father while he was cleaning his pistol at their home in Federal B Area, Bantwa Nagar.
Police have arrested the father and recovered the weapon.
According to details, the incident occurred on Thursday morning in the Azizabad police precinct near Kashif Milk Shop, Block 3 of Federal B Area. The infant's body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
The deceased has been identified as 11-month-old Inayat, daughter of Bilal. Azizabad Station House Officer (SHO) Imran Afridi stated that Bilal was cleaning his licensed 9mm pistol at home when it accidentally discharged. The bullet struck his daughter Inayat in the head, resulting in her death.
Police acted swiftly, arresting Bilal and seizing the weapon. After completing the necessary legal procedures, the infant's body was handed over to the family.
