Nawaz likely to visit London next month
LAHORE. PML-N President Nawaz Sharif is expected to fly to London after his wife Kulsoom Nawaz’s death anniversary on September 11, party sources revealed on Wednesday.
During his stay in London, which may last over three weeks, Nawaz is expected to undergo a medical check-up. He will be staying at his sons’ residence in the UK capital. The former prime minister’s visit to the UK, however, depends on the political situation in Pakistan.
Nawaz, who was convicted in two separate corruption cases in July and December 2017, was granted rare permission to receive medical treatment in London in October 2019.
He returned to Pakistan four years later, in October 2023, during the PML-N’s last government. He was later acquitted in both corruption cases. The former prime minister later also reclaimed the presidency of his party, a position he was deprived of after the Supreme Court’s Panama Papers verdict.
