Rizwan breaks into top 10 of ICC Test batting rankings; Babar slips to ninth

Wicketkeeper-batsman makes his debut in ICC Test top 10 as Saud Shakeel climbs to 13th

Mohammad Rizwan has made a significant leap into the top 10 of the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings for the first time, thanks to his impressive scores of 171 not out and 51 in the recent Test against Bangladesh.

Rizwan is ranked joint-tenth alongside Australia’s Usman Khawaja.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam has slipped six places to ninth after scoring 0 and 22 in the same match. Pakistan's Saud Shakeel also moved up one place to the 13th spot following his century in the first innings.

Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim has climbed to a career-best-equalling 17th position after his crucial innings of 191 in the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, advancing seven places in the rankings.

On the international front, England’s Harry Brook has ascended to fourth place in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings following his strong performances, with scores of 56 and 32 in the first match of the ICC World Test Championship series against Sri Lanka in Manchester. This elevation brings him within striking distance of his career-best third place, achieved after his century against the West Indies at Trent Bridge last month.

Other notable movements in the Test batting rankings include Sri Lanka's Dinesh Chandimal, who rose four places to 23rd, Kamindu Mendis, who climbed eight spots to 36th, Bangladesh's Liton Das, who moved up two positions to 27th, and England's Jamie Smith, who surged 22 places to 42nd.

In the bowling rankings, England’s Chris Woakes ascended four places to 16th after claiming three wickets in each innings against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's Asitha Fernando made a significant leap of 10 places to 17th following his six-wicket haul in the same match. Pakistan’s Naseem Shah, along with England’s Gus Atkinson and Matthew Potts, also made notable gains in the bowling rankings.

In the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, Nicholas Pooran of the West Indies has entered the top 10 after impactful performances against South Africa, while South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks moved up to 13th position. In the bowling rankings, Akeal Hosein of the West Indies rose to second place after taking four wickets across three matches, with Gudakesh Motie also climbing impressively. Romario Shepherd made strides to reach the 31st position.
