Before his death this week, legendary French actor and producer Alain Delon had expressed a unique final wish — to have his cherished sheepdog Loubo buried with him.

Delon, who passed away at the age of 88, had previously mentioned in a 2018 interview with Paris Match that he preferred to have Loubo, a Belgian Malinois adopted in 2014, join him in death rather than suffer after his passing.

However, following Delon’s death, animal rights activists and concerned citizens feared for Loubo’s fate.

To the relief of many, the Brigitte Bardot Foundation confirmed that Delon’s family had no intention of following through on his request.

Loubo will continue to live at Delon’s family home in Douchy, where he will be cared for.

Guillaume Sanchez, President of France’s Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA), expressed approval of the decision, highlighting the importance of recognizing animals as separate beings with their own right to life. Delon’s family has not publicly commented on the matter.
