FIA arrests Orya Maqbool Jan in Lahore
Anchor’s lawyer says the arrest was made over social media posts related to the Mubarak Sani case
Anchor Orya Maqbool Jan was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Wing in Lahore on Thursday, Express News reported.
According to his lawyer, Azhar Siddique, Jan was detained over social media posts related to the Mubarak Sani case. He is currently being held at the FIA Cybercrime office in Gulberg, Lahore.
Siddique claims that details of the First Information Report (FIR) have not been disclosed to them. “We haven’t been informed of the specifics of the FIR, and we believe the FIA lacks jurisdiction in this matter,” Siddique said, adding that they plan to present strong arguments against the charges.
Jan is expected to be presented before a judicial magistrate later today.
