The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has undertaken a significant restructuring of its organisation in Lahore as part of its intensified campaign for the release of its incarcerated founding chairman, Imran Khan. The move aims to strengthen the party's grassroots mobilisation across the district.
PTI Lahore President Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood announced the formation of an executive council, which includes members of the National and Provincial Assemblies as well as party ticket holders.
The body is tasked with rallying party workers and supporters in the constituencies with the ultimate goal of securing Imran Khan's release.
Mahmood emphasised the critical role of the council members in enhancing communication with both party workers and the public within their areas.
A party notification issued on Sunday detailed the composition of the Lahore district executive council, which includes prominent figures such as Dr. Yasmin Rashid / Amina Janjua (NA-130), Aliya Hamza (NA-118), Shahzad Farooq (NA-119), Latif Khosa (NA-122), Salman Akram Raja (NA-128), Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed / Dr Hassan (PP-169), and Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal (PP-171).
The council's primary mandate is to strengthen the party's relationship with its grassroots members. The notification also stipulates strict attendance requirements for council members, warning that three consecutive unexcused absences from any physical or virtual meetings or events will result in their replacement.
This organisational overhaul is part of PTI's broader strategy to unify its base ahead of an August 22 rally in the federal capital. The reorganisation follows recent reconciliation within the party.
