PPP urges Centre to try PTI leaders for treason

PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro has called upon the federal government to try former president Arif Alvi, former prime minister Imran Khan, and former National Assembly deputy speaker Qasim Suri under Article 6 of the Constitution for their alleged unconstitutional actions in dissolving the National Assembly.

Khuhro made these remarks on Saturday during a gathering held to welcome Sharfuddin Memon, the former chief of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and a prominent businessman, who officially joined the PPP. The event was attended by PPP leaders, including provincial Vice President Sarfaraz Rajar, General Secretary Waqar Mehdi, and Javed Nagori.

Speaking at the gathering, Khuhro said, Imran Khan, in his capacity as prime minister, provided unconstitutional advice that led to Alvi's unlawful dissolution of the National Assembly - an action subsequently declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

He went on to say that during the vote of no-confidence, former deputy speaker Qasim Suri issued an unconstitutional ruling, which Khuhro argued constitutes a violation of Article 6 of the Constitution.

Therefore, he called on the federal government to refer the matter to the court.

Khuhro also linked the May 9 incident to Imran, accusing the former prime minister of inciting his supporters to attack military installations and other state institutions. He claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is now divided into factions.
