A retired school teacher was allegedly tortured by the police in Sanjhoro.
Abdul Khaliq Jutt told the media that he was called to the Sanjhoro police station by the clerk where the SHO first verbally abused him and then took him to Kadhro police station before shifting him to the CIA centre, where he was beaten with baton, given electric shocks and stripped naked. He claimed that the police tried to falsely implicate him in a theft case and released him after two days in a semi-conscious state. He claimed that electric shocks have affected his eyesight.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge has ordered the registration of a case against the SHO of Sanjhoro police station Badaruddin, and 16 other police officials, including Asif Jatt, Rana Kashif, and Sarfraz Baloch. The court also directed the medical officer of the taluka hospital to examine the injuries and issue a legal medical certificate.
Later, when Abdul Khaliq and his lawyer went to the police station to register the case, the SHO and all the staff fled, and the case could not be registered. Despite knowing about the incident, the SSP of Sanghar, Ghulam Nabi Keerio, has not taken any action against the police officials involved.
