LAHORE:

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has underscored the importance of regional collaboration in achieving broader economic objectives and reiterated the commitment to supporting such initiatives.

Leading an LCCI delegation during its visit to the Gujranwala Business Centre (GBC), LCCI President Kashif Anwar said synergies between the LCCI and GBC would be crucial for unlocking new business opportunities and enhancing the economic landscape in the region.

He stressed that the Lahore Chamber was keen on leveraging its resources and network to assist GBC in expanding its international footprint.

He gave assurances that they would continue to advocate for policies that facilitate trade and investment, not only in Lahore but across all key industrial hubs, including Gujranwala.

In the face of challenges such as rising costs, a complex taxation system and high inflation, Anwar said, the chamber was actively addressing those issues through awareness sessions.

Additionally, the LCCI has signed memoranda of understanding with hospitals, educational institutions and others to facilitate its members and is working to forge positive and fruitful linkages between the industry and academia.

GBC represents a consortium of 50 prominent companies from Gujranwala. Over the years, the business centre has emerged as a vital platform for businesses to showcase their products for enhancing their export potential and capturing a larger share in the local market.

Speaking on the occasion, GBC Chairman Ahmad Ikram Rauf highlighted its strategic initiatives aimed at promoting Gujranwala's industrial prowess on both national and international fronts.

He noted that GBC had emerged as a focal point for international business activity, having hosted more than 25 international delegations in the last six months. These visits have not only strengthened business relationships but have also opened new markets for local companies and enhanced their export capabilities.

While discussing GBC's export initiatives, the chairman shared that the centre's ambitious export plan had already started yielding positive results, with products now being exported to three countries – Sri Lanka, South Sudan and Uganda.
