LAHORE:

Lahore High Court Justice Sultan Tanvir has recused himself from hearing a petition challenging the Elections (Second Amendment) Act, 2024.

The petition seeks to have the Act declared unconstitutional and requests that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) be restrained from reallocating reserved seats for women and non-Muslims in the National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly to any political party other than the original contestants.

Justice Sultan has referred the case to the acting chief justice of the Lahore High Court to be assigned to another bench.
