The Punjab cabinet has approved the Chief Minister Roshan Gharana Programme, under which solar home solution will be provided to protected power consumers of up to 100 units per month across the province.
"In next two months, a huge project is being launched to give relief to the public in electricity bills," Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif while presiding over a cabinet meeting.
The cabinet approved a proposal to establish the Punjab Grid Company for direct supply of electricity to industries.
It also considered provision of affordable electricity to industrial parks through direct transmission lines from the Bhiki, Balloki and Quaid-i-Azam solar parks.
The cabinet approved a model house of the 'Apni Chhat Apna Ghar' project, under which Rs1.5 million will be given for building a house on a plot of up to five marlae in urban and 10 marla in rural areas.
The chief minister directed the authorities concerned not to receive installments for at least the first three months to facilitate the borrowers under the scheme.
The cabinet was apprised that electric buses will ply in Punjab. It approved a project to run electric buses in Lahore with 27 vehicles set to arrive by December. A model of the electric bus was also presented to the cabinet.
It approved an amendment to the Registration Act 1908 for providing revenue services to overseas Pakistanis in eight countries. The chief minister said, "Land registration and services for important documents will be provided to overseas Pakistanis in eight countries."
The revenue services will be provided to residents of China, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Qatar, Bahrain and Spain.
The cabinet also approved the Punjab government's advertisement policy and the feasibility study of a tourist glass train from Rawalpindi to Murree.
The chief minister said the Murree glass tourist train is a great vision of PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the development of tourism. She said the glass train is also her dream for the development of tourism in Murree.
The project is the first of its kind in the country.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also chaired a meeting at the Multan airport to review progress on the ongoing development projects, initiatives and law and order situation in the division.
She urged the authorities concerned to immediately resolve complaints regarding sewage and sanitation in Multan division. She said the authorities should focus on ensuring the beauty of the city and benegits to the people of her initiatives.
The chief minister appreciated public-friendly sale counters set up in markets in all districts of the division.
"Negligence in price control will not be tolerated. Officers should monitor it closely and action should be taken against those who charge more than the official rates," she said.
The CM said open courts should be set up to solve public problems.
She directed the relevant authorities to pay attention to improving law and order in the area. The chief minister appreciated the local administration's performance in the Suthra Punjab sanitation campaign.
