Two suspects held for poaching rare turtles

The Wildlife Special Squad arrested two suspects for poaching rare species of turtles from the Ravi River, recovering ten turtles in the process.

The operation, led by Squad Chief Asim Kamran, took place on the Sialkot Motorway in Lahore.

During the arrest, the suspects attempted to resist by opening fire on the wildlife team. The staff remained unharmed, and the operation was successfully completed. According to Mudassar Riaz, Director General of Wildlife Punjab, seven of the turtles recovered were alive, while three were found dead.

The suspects were allegedly using nets to capture the turtles.
